Ensuring Inclusive Education for Orphaned Children with Disabilities in Romania

A picture is worth a thousand words - but sometimes it only tells half the story.

Mario and Valentina found friendship and hope at the Delia Learning Center. Before coming to the center, they were both at risk of being denied an education. Can you guess why?

What this picture doesn't tell you is that Mario and Valentina are orphans. They also have developmental disabilities. In Romania, many orphaned children with disabilities face the unfortunate reality of being placed in government-run institutions where they are often deprived of the opportunity to go to school.

The Delia Foundation is a safe haven for these children. The discrimination they face in the outside world does not exist within the walls of the Delia Learning Center. Every child is embraced for their unique abilities, and empowered to learn in a way that suits their needs.

However, one of the center’s main investors can no longer provide the funds necessary to keep the doors open, which is putting all of the children at risk. EU financial grants will be provided at the end of the year, but the Delia Learning Center requires $28,000 to remain open until then. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have already reached 33% of our goal. With your contribution, we know we can save the center and secure a bright future for these deserving children.
